Emergency Services at Northside Hospital

Last updated 4 years ago

If you experience a sudden and life-threatening health concern, it’s nice to know that there are medical professionals who can provide prompt and effective treatment. Recognizing that you are suffering a medical emergency and seeking care are essential for surviving a life-threatening condition and making a full recovery. Northside Hospital is proud to provide excellent emergency care for the residents of St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area.

Prompt Emergency Care

If you feel sudden chest pain, nausea, and fatigue, you should call 911 and have paramedics provide urgent cardiac care. The Northside Hospital emergency response team is ready when the paramedics bring you in. Every second counts when you’re suffering from a heart attack or stroke, and our staff is dedicated to providing the fastest care possible.

Short ER Wait Times

We’ve set up a triage system that permits severely injured individuals to receive swift care. We also offer a Text ER service that allows incoming patients to keep an eye on our latest ER wait times. Like all other HCA hospitals, we work hard to keep our wait times down so we can provide effective care to as many people as possible.

Stroke and Chest Pain Care

Stroke and heart attack are two of the most common medical emergencies we see at Northside Hospital. We have been given a designation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center. The doctors and nurses at our stroke center can quickly detect and treat stroke before it causes too much brain damage, while our chest pain personnel are fully qualified to treat heart attacks and other common causes of chest pain.

Our emergency room has 23 beds and is open 24 hours a day. We’ve received numerous awards, including the “Get with the Guidelines” Gold Award for Stroke Care from the American Heart Association. Call Northside Hospital of St. Petersburg at (888) 598-9586 if you have any questions about our emergency services.
